Dinner with Lord & Lady Carey

chatting about his time in Telupid

Senior Pastor, Fred David was invited to a private Dinner hosted by  Archbishop Stephen Then in honor of the visit of Lord and Lady Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury. They were on a pastoral visit to the Church of Province of Myanmar at the request of Dr. Rowen Williams our present Archbishop. While in Yangon he took the Provincial Retreat.

Dr. Tan Jin Huat  & Rev Fred  then had great honour of  leading  the CPM Provincial Council Members in the 2 day Vision Conference. We praise God for the excitement and positiveness that came out of the Conference.  This could see our Senior Pastor spending more time in the coming year assisting Archbishop Stephen in moving the Province to greater heights. PRAISE GOD FOR HE IS AT WORK.

Mission Nepal

Visitors and students of JBS

Peace Community Church has decided to support the work in Nepal mainly Nazarene Children’s Home and Jabez Bible School. The home has about 40 orphans and are looked after by Rev Renzi and his family of the Anglican Church of Nepal. Their ages range from 2 years to 16 years and many of these adorable children come from far away villages on the slopes of the Himalayan. These children need to go to school and PCC has decided to do some things to help in this area.

The Jabez Bible school aims to train young evangelists who will return to their villages to share the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. They have their classes in a very run down area of Katmandu. Ps. Bikas is the Principal of the school.

Thus Peace Community Church is organising a sale of good used stuff to raise funds for this purpose. If you have anything that could be sold, please get in touch with us. The date and venue of the sale will announced in due course.

Diocesan Mission Conference

2010 Mission Conference promises to be a great time of challenge and opening up our minds to some of the areas we seldom think of as Mission fields. The highlights of the Conference will be our speakers from the Sarang Church in Korea, now well known for their Intentional Discipleship. The other area will be the Crisis relief. With a world that it so “unstable” after the 2004 Tsunami, we must be prepared for the eventualities.

Date: 16-17 September 2010

Venue: St. Paul’s Church, PJ

Please pick up a form and sign up for the conference. For further info go to Diocese of West Malaysia website: www.anglicanwestmalaysia.org.my

Farewell Sister Helen

It was a joy to have Helen one of our early members to be Baptised at Peace

Ps.Fred and leaders sending Helen with God's Blessing

Community Church come back for her convocation in August. Helen graduated with double honours and attributes this to her being at Peace Community. She had tremendously improved her English while being with us.

But as she leaves us to go back to China again, she testifies that the greatest joy this time round was to be part of the Holy Spirit Weekend. She says that she was challenged by the talks especially of  having and knowing the Holy Spirit in our lives, who will be our comforter ,guide and strength. With this assurance she goes back to China to live as a victorious Christian and hopes to bring others to the Lord.

Helen we will miss you and pray that God will work in and through you. God Be with you till we meet again.

Senior Pastor, Rev Fred David has been invited by the Archbishop of Myamar, to help set up the above school. This will be undertaken in partnership with the Diocese of the West Malaysia. Bishop Ng Moon Hing has consented to this project and has asked Pastor Fred to take with him the younger clergy as a way of exposing them and also getting them to be equipped for their future involvement in the mission of the Diocese. Praise God for a far-sighted Bishop.

Senior Pastor will be away from Wednesday 21 July to 30 July. Please pray for him. If conditions allow, he will post some news while in the hills in Mandalay. If you are moved to pray for this project, please contact Maria Rhode

Ministry in Nepal

Pastor Fred and Yoke Fong were invited by the Anglican Church in Nepal to do some training and teaching for some 40 pastors and their wives. We are grateful to Peace Community Church for having allowed us to go.

Some of the Pastors and their wives came to Kathmandu after a 3-6 days walk, We were very touched by their desire to learn and serve the Lord. The time was very fruitful and many were blessed as we too were blessed by their love and hospitality.

I am planning that a team from Peace Community church would go sometime next year to Nepal. Please pray.

Sunday Worship

Church in Gear

The Diocesan Mission Conference 08 was well attended by all language groups in the Diocese. A total of 140+ delegates were present. The Bishop in his Keynote Address challenged churches to take responsibility for those who have yet to come to the faith. He said the church cannot sit back and not do anything in this generation.

Our guest speakers in the persons of the Very Kuan Kim Seng, Dean of St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Singapore and the Rev Yee Chin Wah, Dean of Thailand ably inspired and motivated all present to be involved in mission.

The second day saw the conference breaking up into a number of workshops. First there were workshops on each region in the Province of SEA where the church was involved in missions and also workshops on Specialized ministries such as migrant workers etc. This provided delegates a wider option when it came to considering spending time in the mission field.

The second batch of workshops were designed to help those seriously considering missions in the practical aspects: Applying, preparation, finance and prayer support.

Many come out of the conference encouraged and inspired. But as Isaiah said to the Lord,” Here am I send me!” This must be our response too. Let us pray that the Lord will raise up workers for the harvest.
