Moses is Found

Our children gave the church a short presentation of the story of Moses who was found in a basket by the river by the daughter of Pharaoh. Moses was acted by a young boy who real name was Moses.  Pray that Moses will grow up to be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Season of Lent

The Sanctuary in Lent

Purple is the colour for this season of Lent and 5 purples candles and a white one were lit and placed in church beginning at the Ash Wednesday Service. The Candles help us to focus and participate as the Lord draws close to the Cross at Calvary. As each week goes by in Lent, one of the candle is extinguished. This symbolizes that we are drawing to the darkest moment on Good Friday where the white candle representing Christ continues to glow.

But these are just symbols to help us visualize the agony that the Lord had to endure. We need to be reading the word daily. For this purpose the Diocese has produced a Devotional Book for Lent 2012 to help you walk with the Lord to the Cross. Begin today by reading his word daily in this season of Lent.

If you are unable to find a Devotional Book, please drop us a line with your address and we will see that you receive one.

Ash Wednesday Service- 2012

ashes to ashes

The Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, the 7th Wednesday before Easter. This is commonly observed by the Roman Church, Anglicans and Lutherans. During Lent Christians are encouraged to fast, pray, give alms and seek repentance for their sins. Some Christians abstain from various foods.

We are reminded on Ash Wednesday that during Lent the focus should be the sacrifice of Christ and the mission of the Church. As the Lord established an annual day of repentance for the Israelites as in the Day of Atonement, (Lev 6), the church continues in the tradition of marking ash crosses on the foreheads of the faithful on Ash Wednesday as we remember that we will return “Dust to dust, ashes to ashes”
