The Diocesan Mission Conference 08 was well attended by all language groups in the Diocese. A total of 140+ delegates were present. The Bishop in his Keynote Address challenged churches to take responsibility for those who have yet to come to the faith. He said the church cannot sit back and not do anything in this generation.
Our guest speakers in the persons of the Very Kuan Kim Seng, Dean of St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Singapore and the Rev Yee Chin Wah, Dean of Thailand ably inspired and motivated all present to be involved in mission.
The second day saw the conference breaking up into a number of workshops. First there were workshops on each region in the Province of SEA where the church was involved in missions and also workshops on Specialized ministries such as migrant workers etc. This provided delegates a wider option when it came to considering spending time in the mission field.
The second batch of workshops were designed to help those seriously considering missions in the practical aspects: Applying, preparation, finance and prayer support.
Many come out of the conference encouraged and inspired. But as Isaiah said to the Lord,” Here am I send me!” This must be our response too. Let us pray that the Lord will raise up workers for the harvest.
