Today was a full day at the Synod. It began with the Communion Service and Ven Charles Samuel preached from the prophet Ezekiel about the shepherds of Israel. Applying it to our situation in the Diocese and appealing for a “New Heart, a New Spirit and a New Vision”.
The rest of the day was taken up by all the reports and accounts. Somehow people have a lot to say and speakĀ when it comes to money matters. The Synod approved the proposed Salary revisionĀ for clergy to be implemented January 2009.
One of the highlights of the day was the briefing on the Diocesan Development Project in Jalan Tengah by the developers. Someone commented that after many years of waiting we are now seeing a 3D picture of the building. The Synod then prayed for the developer and all concerned in the building project.
The Bishop also announced some of the transfers that will be effective in December 2008. In his address he also encouraged churches to learn to give generously not only to the Diocese but for the work of the extension of the Kingdom. I was thinking that we at Peace Community should begin contributing to the Diocesan fund next year. This will say that we are part of the Diocese.
Tomorrow will be closing. I will also so a write on the other matters that will be discussed.
